Casino Gambling

The casino is right across the parking lot from the hotel. The best part about the casino is the low table minimums. $3 is the minimum for blackjack / craps / etc which should encourage everyone to have some fun in the casino. Some of the games are a little janky (e.g. free bet blackjack) but for $3 minimums you can’t beat it. Drinks are free as long as you are gambling. The bingo room is super fun – especially if you’re working a nice buzz and don’t mind being judged by old people. It’s cheap too and drinks are free as long as you are gambling. At a minimum you should register for a “Gold Club” card. It’s free and you get a free gift. Anytime you gamble at a slot machine or table game (Poker / Blackjack / Roulette / Craps / Pai Gow / etc) you get points and that translates to free food / other free stuff.

Dining Options

This isn’t Las Vegas.  There aren’t big time chefs and restaurants but there are a handful of places to find good food to eat. Options:

In the Casino
  • Mason Street Courtyard. Good American food and they are open until 11:00 PM.  You can get breakfast all day and they serve a variety of food including Asian food.  They also won’t look down on you if you are super stoned trying to figure out what you want.

  • Gregory’s Grill. Open til 8 or 9 PM it’s a nice place to grab a steak / pork chop / chicken / Italian food / wine. Spendy but a nice place if you are looking for a good meal.

  • Town Square Buffet. 4:00 – 8:00 PM All you can eat you fatass.

  • Side Street. 11:00 PM – 6:00 AM.  For the late night creep when you get hot at the dice table and need some food.  Sandwiches / Breakfast / etc.

Around Town
  • Samurai 21. Believe it or not there is good sushi in Mesquite.  Fairly priced and tasty.  Turns into a hibachi restaurant at night.

  • Katherine’s Steakhouse. Located inside the Casablanca casino (about 10 minutes from the hotel). Quality steaks and chops. On the expensive side but worth it.
  • Los Lupes. Really good Mexican food on the south side of town. Worth the trip if you’re craving Mexican.

  • Jack in the box. Big Steve’s favorite for breakfast tacos.

  • Panda Garden Chinese. Supposed to have good Chinese food.

  • Golf Courses. Typically the best solution for lunch.  All of the courses we play have nice restaurants where you can grab a sandwich / salad / fries / meat / drinks / etc.  It’s convenient and fairly priced – all of them are quality.

Nightlife

Again – this isn’t Vegas.  There is only 1 “club” and that’s Seasons Ultra Lounge inside the casino (8:30 PM- 3:00 AM).  You can dance and get bottle service and cocktails.

That’s literally the only thing along those lines if you are looking for nightlife in Mesquite.  Vegas Hookers won’t make the drive and nobody has yet to find any working in Mesquite.  Just FYI.

Booze + Booze on the Course

Get your booze + beer @ Lee’s Discount Liquor.  It’s right down the road on Pioneer Blvd and is super cheap. Great selection as well.

It has always been easy to bring booze onto the course. It’s cheaper than buying on the course and the best value as long as you can be a little discreet about it.  As long as you aren’t blatantly loading up on beers in the parking lot of the golf course you should be fine.

Golf Balls

Bring more golf balls than you think you need. The courses eat up balls and you cannot do a lot of hunting for balls in the desert (please respect the signs.  If they say don’t go in there don’t go in there).

Even the best golfers will lose balls and having extras is advised. If you need extras the Walmart on Pioneer Blvd sells bags of 30 rocks for $20.  They aren’t proV1’s but they’re good enough for you.

Behavior Expectations on the Courses

These are really nice golf courses and we need to dress and behave to their standards.  Please show up early and be ready to tee off at least 10 minutes before your tee time.  If we tee off @ 6:30 it doesn’t mean you show up at 6:25 and are trying to figure it out.  I would recommend arriving at least ½ hour before your tee time.  Range balls are included in the price at every course.

The courses also require collared shirts and golf attire.  No jean shorts and no tank tops you hillbilly.

Please also respect the signage on the course.  If the area is closed because it is protected desert or there are rattlesnakes or it is under construction please respect that.  They are serious about protecting their course and it would be a shame to see anybody thrown off for being an idiot.

Grocery

Your best two options are Smiths and Walmart. Smiths is right across the highway from the hotel and Walmart is towards Conestoga on Pioneer Blvd.

Pool

The pool is awesome and where the party happens most days after golf.  The water is the perfect way to stay cool and there are two hot tubs for your old bones.  They also have a handful of cabanas around the pool that are shaded and nice with couches and tables.

Drinking is ENCOURAGED in the pool area.  After all they want you making bad gambling decisions.  So bring your whiskey and beer (and a cooler!) and have a great time.  People usually bring speakers as well to play music.  No glass containers.   The pool is open until 11:00 PM every night.

Drugs

Weed is now legal in Nevada! Check out Deep Roots Harvest Dispensary, 195 Willis Carrier Canyon, Mesquite, NV 89034.  About 8 minutes from the hotel.

Please don’t be a numbnuts.  Smoking in your hotel room with smoke billowing out into the hallway isn’t the brightest move and we don’t need issues with the hotel.  Open a window and keep a low profile.

Use all other drugs at your own risk.
