Designed by renowned golf architect Rick Smith and established in 1993, the Smith Signature course at Treetops Resort offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers. Drawing inspiration from Scottish and Irish traditions, this par-70 course features generous fairways, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens that test players of all skill levels. The course’s stunning vistas and secluded holes carved through dense forests have earned it consistent recognition, including a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest. Threetops at Treetops is widely regarded as one of America’s best par-3 courses. Golfweek Magazine has named it “America’s Best Par 3 Course.” From 1999 to 2006, it hosted the ESPN Par-3 Shootout, featuring golf legends like Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, and Phil Mickelson. One of the most memorable moments came in 2001 when Trevino made a hole-in-one on the 7th hole, winning $1 million. With dramatic elevation changes and stunning views, Threetops provides a thrilling and picturesque challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

Saturday 8/30 | 10:48 am tee times | Jones Masterpiece
Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1987, the Jones Masterpiece at Treetops Resort is celebrated as one of the state’s most scenic and challenging courses. Set amidst rolling hills and dense forests overlooking the Pigeon River Valley, this par-71 course stretches over 7,028 yards, demanding precise shot placement and strategic play. Golf Digest recognized it as the #2 new resort course in the U.S. upon its debut. The resort was even renamed “Treetops” after Jones stood atop the 6th hole’s elevated perch and was inspired by the stunning treetop views.

Sunday 8/31 | 8:20 am tee times | Fazio Premier
The Fazio Premier Golf Course is a par-72 course stretching 6,832 yards. Opened in 1992, it has consistently earned a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest. The course is renowned for its rolling fairways, strategic bunkering, and panoramic views of Northern Michigan’s landscape. Notably, it was ranked 23rd among America’s top resort courses by Golf Digest in 2011-2012. Tom Fazio, the course’s designer, is a renowned golf course architect known for designing Augusta National’s renovations, Shadow Creek, and Pinehurst No. 8. His strategic layouts emphasize natural beauty, playability, and challenging yet enjoyable designs.

Monday 9/1 | 8:00 am tee times | Smith Tradition Course
The Smith Tradition Golf Course is a par-72 course spanning 6,544 yards. Designed by Rick Smith, it offers a walkable, links-inspired layout with rolling terrain, drawing inspiration from Irish and Scottish courses. The Tradition has consistently earned a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest and contributed to Treetops Resort receiving Golf Magazine’s Silver Medal Award seven times.
