Treetops Summer Golf Trip Primer

Welcome to Treetops.

This is Northern Michigan golf: cool summer mornings, long daylight, scenic views, and in the middle of nowhere.

Lodging Details

The Lodge is comfortable, convenient, and golf focused. This is not a luxury Vegas resort. It is a Northern Michigan golf lodge designed for golfers who plan to spend most of their time on the golf course.

The Lodge includes:

Good Guy Tip: Bring a swimsuit. After golf, the pool and hot tub may become the most important amenities on the property.

Food & Drink at Treetops

Treetops has several on property dining options that are perfect for breakfast before your round, drinks after golf, or a casual dinner without leaving the resort.

Options include:

  • Bar 81
  • Jones Tavern
  • Treetops North Tavern
  • Sports Bar
  • Legends on the Hill
  • Halfway Houses on the golf courses

Food & Drink in Gaylord

Gaylord is only about 10 minutes from the resort and offers several great options for food and drinks.

Snowbelt Brewing Company

Best for craft beer, casual food, and an easy group hangout after golf.

Big Buck Brewery

A classic Northern Michigan brewery and restaurant with plenty of space for larger groups.

Bennethum’s Northern Inn

One of the area’s better dinner options if you’re looking for steaks, cocktails, and a slightly nicer evening out.

Alpine Tavern & Eatery

A casual sports bar atmosphere with pizza, sandwiches, drinks, and plenty of TVs.

The Pine Squirrel Bar & Grill

A local favorite for burgers, beer, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Lisa’s Tavern

Known for pizza, burgers, drinks, and late night food.

Groceries, Alcohol & Golf Balls

Before settling in, we highly recommend making one stop in Gaylord for supplies.

Meijer (Recommended)

Meijer is the best overall stop for:

  • Groceries
  • Beer
  • Liquor
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Breakfast items
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Medicine
  • Ice
  • Forgotten travel essentials

Walmart Supercenter

Walmart is the best option if you need:

  • Golf balls
  • Golf gloves
  • Sunscreen
  • Chargers
  • Coolers
  • Extra clothing
  • Emergency golf trip purchases

Good Guy Tip: Buy extra golf balls before arriving at the resort. Treetops is beautiful, but it has a habit of collecting golf balls.

Transportation & Logistics

One of the most important things to know before arriving is that Treetops has two separate golf areas.

The Lodge / Main Resort

3962 Wilkinson Road
Gaylord, MI 49735

This is where we are staying.

Treetops North

4282 Fazio Drive
Gaylord, MI 49735

Treetops North is home to four of the resort’s golf courses and practice facilities.

The drive between The Lodge and Treetops North is approximately 10 minutes.

We recommend leaving:

  • 60 minutes before tee time if you plan to warm up
  • 30 minutes before tee time if you’re checking in and heading straight to the first tee

Do not assume you can leave your room 10 minutes before your tee time and comfortably make it.

Weather

Mid June is one of the best times of year to visit Northern Michigan.

Expect:

Pack layers. It is common to wear shorts and a polo during the day and a hoodie or quarter zip later in the evening.

Sports betting is legal in Michigan through licensed online sportsbooks. You must be physically located in Michigan and meet all legal age requirements to participate.

Gaylord nightlife is fairly low key. Expect breweries, sports bars, casual restaurants, and local taverns rather than a late night party scene.
